Chicken Soup with the South Fulton Fire Department in Obion County, Tennessee...

The world's terrorists must be sleeping very soundly indeed; free from moral quandaries.

I thought that nothing could top the depraved indifference of America's health insurance system until I read this cheerful story about the behavior of the South Fulton Fire Department.

In a previous post I compared the barbaric behavior of America's health insurance system to the highly civilized behavior of the fire department. At the time I was unaware that any of our nation's fire departments would dream of standing by while someone's home burned down. Apparently I was wrong. Moral depravity knows no limit in America.

If I come across a word that accurately describes the depths of depravity demonstrated by the South Fulton Fire Department I'll let you know. Until then, readers should consider the fact that those who drive airplanes into buildings, mow down their classmates in a hail of bullets, or park truck bombs in front of federal buildings are being made to seem considerably less evil when compared to the routine behavior of ordinary Americans.

Sleep soundly meatheads.

  2. I originally identified the terrorist enablers as the Obion County Fire Department but due to the timely diligence of Mr. Anonymous I now have the correct information.

    Thank you.

  3. I think you're being a bit hard on your fellow Americans. And unfair. The average American does not set out to intentionally kill innocent people. Innocent people do not deserve to die in the name of some extremist's cause. Lighten up a bit, dude.

I'm no Christian and I'm not even sure if there's a God, but I'm guided by Jesus's plea "Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do."

I think you should forgive the ignorant and reserve your wrath for those who _are_ intentionally culpable.

And always remember, two wrongs don't make a right. That's the bit the terrorists (and those crafting America's foreign policy) seem to be overlooking.

    Here endeth the lesson. :-)

  4. The subject of this weblog is not the character of those who "intentionally set out to kill innocent people." I'm criticizing the depraved indifference that so many Americans shamelessly display.

When you quote scripture, "Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do." are you claiming that Ryan Tucker didn't know he was harming Bryan Boyd, that the firefighters who stood by and watched someone's home burn didn't know it was wrong, and that Sandusky didn't know he was molesting children?
